ABOUT

What's Modern Pulp Comics all about?

Simply put, Modern Pulp Comics is an homage to the classic adventures of old, starring such unforgettable characters as Doc Savage, Flash Gordon, The Shadow, Phillip Marlowe, Sam Spade, and many more. But, it is also a modernization of such stories, influenced by the comics of today, such as Hellboy, Batman, Justice Society, 100 Bullets, etc. Modern Pulp represents the old and the new, the best of both worlds.

The universe of Modern Pulp exists mainly in the semi-fictional twin cities of Seattle and Cosmopolis, located in the State of Washington. The timeline is a little hazy, as some of the stories span over a century, but the majority of them take place during the 2020's. In this near future, Seattle has lost some of it's natural sparkle as the Emerald City, becoming a dark and gritty crime-ridden town. Near the coastline, Cosmopolis continues to shine on as the city of the future, but underneath it's chrome finish lies a dark underbelly of supernatural horrors.

The stories for Modern Pulp revolve around 5 main characters: James Sprecken, Lucifer Fawkes, Constable IV, Gibson Dent and Dallas McCoy. Each character is a reflection of those that came before, but they are also unique and complex.

Ulf Imwiehe - Contributing Writer
Freelance music journalist by day, Ulf Imwiehe loves to conjure up shadow and song when darkness falls. Besides a cornucopia of online strips about to hit your screen in the near future, his writing credits for Modern Pulp Comics include the Lucifer Fawkes one-shots North of Here and Orcus ex Machina, published (or to be published) through Rorschach Entertainment.

Ron Fortier - Contributing Writer
Ron is a huge contributor to the Modern Pulp offshoot title and character, Gibson Dent. He is also the main contributor to the Pulped! section, with Mr. Jigsaw and Dr. Satan. He has his own website, Airship27, that showcases his many fine works.
