The Emerald City ComiCon is finally done! Well, actually… it was done, as of last weekend. It’s just taken me a week just to get caught up on other work before I could even get back to Modern Pulp and the pulpy goodness it teases you with.
The show went very well. For the first time in ages, Modern Pulp Comics had more than just one book out and we finally had a goal for the future of said books that we able to announce.
The final issue of Sprecken: Kalabus Rex hit the show, allowing those patient enough to have followed the book for the last few years to finally get some closure. The origin tale of our Time-Displaced Detective is now over. In a sort of sad note, we have no real plans for him in the immediate future, except for perhaps some cameos and supporting role appearances in our new ongoing series. Speaking of…
Dallas McCoy #00 also debuted at the show, as promised, and it was a big hit! Everyone was excited to hear the news that we were planning to launch the book in September. We are currently planning at least 12 issues, with a new issue coming out every 2-3 months. We’ll tighten up the publishing schedule later, once we are closer to the launch of the series.
Unfortunately, I do need to announce that Sidney Lima, the artist for Dallas McCoy, will not be on the new series. Other commitments have made it impossible to keep him on the book. We are currently looking at some dozen or so very talented people to take over the art reigns (such as Hamza Pecenkovic, who did the sketches of Dallas above), and will eventually settle with 2-3 artists to rotate through the series.
Once we make our decision on who the new artists will be, we will announce that here.
The first issue of Dallas McCoy will debut at the new Jet City Comic Show in September.
