A few years ago, I ran across the website of a french artist named Bruno “nox” Gore, by sheer luck, jumping from link to link to link. Besides being amazed by the quality of this guy’s artwork, I was thrown by a particular image that he had done.
Titled “Nite Life XS” on the picture itself and “badman” for the jpeg file, this piece of artwork (to the right!) depicts a very familiar-looking character with a naked woman at his feet, a beaten thug crying for his mommy, and both barrels ready to go.
The question raised here is simple: who is he?
There are elements that are so close to Lucifer Fawkes that it almost seems like it can’t be anyone but him. The color scheme, the long mask, the serrated shoulders on the cape, and even the twin pistols. Oh, and if you look real close at the pin on his cape, it looks like the Lucifer Fawkes logo based off of his mask. Then again, there are the stylized gloves and the tips of the cape that would denote a certain Dark Knight, although Bats would never sport dual shooters or allow naked chicks up against his crotch like that (at least, not in public).
I’ve never found out who this piece is supposed to be based on. I like to think this artist used Lucifer Fawkes for this piece; it certainly looks like he did. It’s an incredible piece, and one of the best depictions of Fawkes I have ever seen, if it is indeed him…
